My 2005 Year
My 2005 Year Highlights
2005 was the Year of the NYFL dumpster fire. They with and unwitting Jamal Willis waged a hostle takover of the Lehi, AF, PG, Linden youth football for a season. Just long enough for us locals, who were forced to join them (the NYFL was from Vegas) to Organize the Utah County Football Confernce, the UCFC that lasted for a number of years and then became part of the Utah Youth Football Conference still in operation in 2023. I am not sure what happend between the UCFC and the UYFC but things look operational.
I still foundly remember almost getting arrested in Lehi at a secret NYFL meeting that was called to make changes that none of the member districts were in favor of. I refused to leave. The NYFL was paralzed. I finally left with the police after making a statement that started the begining of the end for NYFL in Utah county. Equipment problems, fee issues, unaccounted money, and more issues that I can ever recount. We all finally decided to just play the season out and dump the NYFL after that season.
And I laugh out load, really. When I go back and read emails about petty gruges and ego trips. Some quotes: So yes, we will be dealing with him through the seasons to come. Instead of bitching and moaning all season we used it as a teaching experience for our son. Since you can’t always control the types of coaches you will have, we made the best of it. And: First off, sorry about the comment on your phone last night at the game… It was totally uncalled for. It was wet, I was cold and frustrated. And I shouldn’t have vented on you, but you gave me your phone number! And some good ones: Additionally I have felt regret for allowing my frustrations to cast stones, for that I apologize. I do not wish to contend I only wish resolve. If I can help please let me know. Some emails were humorous: The problem is parents want there kids babied way to much, that is why [some 19 year olds, leaving home for the first time] act like wimps, some parents need go out in the real world or get there kids in dance not football! Finally after a long hard season an email on Jan 4th. I’m trying to find out what day a week the 4th grade teams will have their games. I have a work committment to make & don’t want to miss all my sons games, can you please let me know which day or who I’d talk to find out. You have to appreciate the fact that parents are both excited about thier kids playing sports and clueless about what is required to run a program with 400 players. Just made me laugh.
