Canals of Venice

Canals of Venice

The Canals of Venice Are one of the most expensive places in the world to visit. It is beautiful, and it’s fun to wander around the narrow streets, but a gondola ride is about $150, a light lunch on the Piazza is around $100, hotels with the view of the grand Canal are $300 a night.  And that was in 2000.  It’s only about 8 dollars to take the water taxi through the grand Canal, so that’s a plus. And walking around is free. Which is probably the most enjoyable thing to  do. My wife and I spent two days in Venice and probably did not need to stay more, unless we wanted to spend more time in the museums.

Taking a high-speed train from Rome is an experience in and of itself. Seeing the beautiful countryside is worth the train ride.  There are several types of trains provided by different companies in Italy. A little bit of research can make a big difference in cost and time and comfort.
